Lucius Masters is an Indonesian professional wrestler who rose to prominence as one half of The Masterwork, a tag team he formed with then-girlfriend Lily Malone.

Early Life

Lucius Masters was born on October 17, 1989, in Jakarta, Indonesia, to an Indonesian mother and a wealthy British father who split up when Lucius was in infancy. Not much is known about his childhood other than that it was remarkably affluent and that he had little contact with his father growing up; Lucius lived with his mother seemingly without incident until 2010, when he moved to the UK in order to attend Oxford University. He graduated in 2012 with a first-class B.Phil.

Professional Wrestling Career

It is not known how or when Lucius Masters turned his focus to wrestling, but in early 2017 he and his then-girlfriend Lily Malone came to the attention of the Armbar Error Society. Working together as The Masterwork, they signed with fledgling federation Grappling of Glory, winning their debut match on July 9, 2017, against The Caribbean Connection. They followed this victory up with another win 20 days later, this time against The Wanderers, netting them their first and so far only titles in the form of the Back 2 Back Tag Team Championship. Masters enjoyed less success as a singles wrestler, however, losing to Sanako Asano on November 18; indeed, many critics at the time noted that Malone seemed to be the more talented of the two despite Masters' imposing build. Corroborating this, Masters and Malone managed to triumph over Asano and her self-selected partner Emmy Bancroft when the latter pair challenged for the tag titles on January 21, 2018. Eventually, they did lose the titles, however, dropping them to Leon Black and Mark Anderson of The Black Legion in April 2018. Following this, Masters attempted to go on a singles tear to avenge Malone over a minor injury she sustained in the match, stopping only when Malone herself came down to the ring and physically prevented him from continuing. This was their last appearance in Grappling of Glory, and their last appearance as a team.

Masters' next appearance came in the form of an attempted solo run at the AES World Cup in the spring of 2018. He performed largely as expected, losing to Camber Khadre, Queen of the Flame Kingdom at the third Qualifying Stage, and then again to Ganbataar Ornpaeng at the fourth, decisively eliminating him from the tournament. Indeed, his time in the World Cup is mostly remembered for the fierce enmity he developed for promotion runner Nicholas Alexander, going so far as to break into his office, hack his phone, and spend thousands of dollars on billboards near the venue decrying Alexander's actions.

He disappeared from AES for a short while after his humiliation at the World Cup, returning at PRIZMA's Somersault Weekend Night Two on March 30, 2019, in yet another losing attempt, this time at the hands of The Wanderer. He appeared again on June 27th of the same year in the short-lived Dark City Classic tournament, prevailing over Naomi Mizuhana. Following the match, there was some controversy surrounding Masters' attempt to ingest a live wasp on camera, a decision that resulted in brief hospitalisation and a stern telling-off by local animal rights groups.

Personal Life

Since breaking through into the wrestling industry, Lucius Masters resides at a luxurious mansion sitting on 12 hectares of land some 50 kilometres outside of Los Angeles. He rarely gives interviews despite his gregarious personality, but some fans have proposed an alternate explanation for his lengthy hiatus from wrestling between May of 2018 and March of the following year, drawing attention to a number of emotional Instagram posts Masters made throughout the summer of 2018 that appeared to suggest the dissolution of his relationship with Lily Malone.
